Understanding switchable polymers at interfaces
Research in Soft Control is dedicated to increase our understanding of the underlying switching-properties in smart polymer molecules confined at interfaces. To this respect, scientific work being carried out in Soft Control initially focuses on three areas: catalytically active systems (project area A), biologically active systems (project area B), as well as molecular characterization and simulation (project area C). Although research conducted in Soft Control is mainly fundamental in nature, one can already expect that the outcome of our investigations will impact, as well as initialize more application-driven work to come. With respect to this, Soft Control will establish new groups at the TU Darmstadt at the Juniorprofessor-level with focus on “smart membranes”, “soft sensing elements”, and the development of “smart, functional paper”.
